B-brackets. ( )
E- exponents.
D-division. ÷

A-addition. +
S-subtraction. -

Now these are the Rules:
Rule 1- First you check to see if there is any brackets in the math question.
Rule 2- Then you check if there is any exponents in the math question.
Rule 3- Now if there is division or multiplication start from left to right.
Rule 4- Last but not least if there is addition or subtraction start from left to right.

EG.
2+3X4=
\ /
2+12=

Homework:

1.
Annie has asked to calculate 1.7 + 6 ÷ 2. She claims the answer is 3.85. Do you agree? Explain why or why not.
1.7+6÷2
1.7+ 3 (since 6÷2=3)
1.7+3=4.7

2.Put brackets in the following expression to get the largest value possible. What problem strategy did you use?
3 X (2.8) + 6.4÷4)=10

3. Create a problem that could be solved using the following expression.
Anthony goes to the store to get a sandwich the sandwich is $3.50,he also took a juice box the juice box is $1.50 he also took 1 granola bar for $1.75 each and he also took a bag of chips, the chips cost 1.50. What is the total of Anthony's purchase going to be?

Diana,I liked the way you give the symbol of each operation in BEDMAS,it helps me to understand each operation. There is just a little mistake, you put brackets around 2.8 in question 2 and it doesn't change anything, because there is only one number in the brackets with no operation.

Hi Diana! Thanks for the post, it really minds us what we did on math. Try putting on an image. This can help: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_WXz0xyxHI9U/SaL9d61p6TI/AAAAAAAAACw/lXjEEXuwBDw/s400/Quiz+over+slope-intercept+and+order+of+operations-done_3.jpeg
Thanks again. ~:D~

Hey Diana! Thanks for your post. I think you should put an image on your scribe post, and I think you should also add a link to help other people learn more about order of operations. Maybe this link will help: http://cemc2.math.uwaterloo.ca/mathfrog/english/kidz/order.shtml
Thanks! :D

Hi Diana, great scribe post! I really liked how you explain question #1. I got it. But for question number 3, aren't you suppose to make a problem for the question, then solve it? But the answer is right, you still a problem to go along with it. Great work Diana. Awesome scribe post.

Hi Diana, Great job on your scribe post. I think that you didn't understand the homework question #3. Here is what I did.

Ashley is shopping at her favorite store, she sees this shirt on sale for $2.50 so she grabs one in a size small. A silver watch catches her eye and is worth $1.25, so she takes it and place it in her basket. On her way to the check out line she sees 5 different pairs of ear rings each worth $1.60. How much money dose Ashley need to purchase all of the items she wants?
ANSWER:

2.5 + 1.25 + 5 x 1.6 =
2.5 + 1.25 + 8 =
3.75 + 8 =
= 11.75
