order of operation

order of operation
this is what you have to know when you are working with the order of operation:

B-brackets - when you have a question with brackets you work on the brackets first.
E-exponents - Then next you work on exponents
D-division -Since division and multiplication are like mom and dad which ever comes first is what you work on first.
M-multiplication
A-addition - Since addition and subtraction are like brother and sister which ever comes first is what you work on first.
S-subtraction

solutions to the 3 questions:

  1. Annie has been asked to calculate 1.7+6 divided by 2.She claims the answer is 3.85.Do you agree? explain why or why not. i don't agree because if you use BEDMAS you would have 4.7.
  2. Put bracket in the following expression to get the largest value as possible. 3x(2.8)+(6.4)divided by 4=10.9.
  3. Create a problem that could be solved using the following expression. (2.5+1,25)+(5x1.6)=14.

Kassey,I like your scribe post, but there is one little mistake. You put brackets on 2.8 in question 2 and nothing changes, because there is only one number inside the bracket.

Awesome job Kassey! Your scribe post on BEDMAS really helped me on what I needed to know about the order of operations. I think you should read over on what you have because you have some letters that need capital letters. :)
