opposite operations

Today in class we talked about Equation

Equation-mathematical statement with two expressions that have the same value
Example: x+2=3 y-7=(-4) 3a-2=a+2 b=4

Question:Can you model 8 times a number plus 4 is 12?

Answer: (8n+4=12)

5y-6=19
Find the:
variable
numerical coefficient
constant

Answer:
Variable: The variable is the Y
Numerical coefficient: The numerical coefficient is the 5
Constant: The constant is the 6

Question:How would you write this picture in a expression?
Answer: c+(-3)=(-6)

Opposite Operation
+,-
x,/
-,+
/,x

What is the letter a?
a+1=3
a+1-1=3-1
+1-1=zero pair 3-1+2
a=2

Sub:
a+1=3
2+1=3
3=3

Reverse order of operation:
4c-3=17
4c-3+3=17+3
4c/4 =20/4
C=5

Sub:
4c-3=17
4(5)-3=17
20-3=17
17=17

This is what we did in class to day

Here is a video to help

Hi Aaron. Great scribe post! You made it easy to read and understand. I like how you stated the question, then the answer. The image you added matched what you were trying to explain, or show! The video helped, but you should have added a game/link. Other than that, good job! Here's a link/game you can add. ; http://www.xpmath.com/forums/arcade.php?do=play&gameid=64

Aaron, nice post! I liked the size of your font and the color of it. Your picture was nice, and I loved your video. One thing you can do to make your post better is to add a link(like what everybody said). Here is another link you can consider to put in your blog http://www.sosmath.com/algebra/solve/solve0/solve0.html. Nice job Aaron!
