Textbook (pg, 10-12) Q&A

10. A parallelogram-shaped stripe is going to be painted on the wall of a daycare centre. There is enough paint to make a stripe with an area of 9m2. How high can the stripe be?

Answer; The stripe can be 6m because 1.5m x 6m = 12m2

11. a) With a ruler, measure the base and height of this parallelogram. Explain how you measured.

Answer; Base = 1.6cm ; Height = 1.8cm.

b) A = b x h
A = 1.6 x 1.8
A = 2.88 cm2

c) - The new height is 1.5cm and the area is A = b x h
A = 2 x 1.5
A = 3cm2
- The measurement in 'b' is less than the measurement in 'c'.

12. Which of the two shapes shown below has a greater area? Explain your answer.

Answer; They both would have the same area because they both multiply 2 x 6.

Sompong,great post!I like the way you used the same pictures from the textbook so it reminds me of what we did today.For number 10, 1.5mx6m should not equal to 12m2,it should equal to 9m2.You can also change the color of the word, so things can stand out.

Great job, on your scribe post!I like how you used the same pictures in the textbook. I notice that you didn't have a link so, here's a link: http://www.xpmath.com/forums/arcade.php?do=play&gameid=11

Hi Sompong! Great scribe post! I like how you put the same images as the ones in the textbook. On #11 you can also have "b=2 h=1.5" "A=2x1.5=3m2" but your answer is fine too! Good Job! Here is a game/link that helps you practice finding the area of parallelogram ; http://www.xpmath.com/forums/arcade.php?do=play&gameid=11

Hey Amy! Great job on your post. You could've also change colors. It will make it easier for us to see which one is the question and which is the answer. Anyway, good job.
Here is also another video that can help you:

Hi Sompong! I have to say, awesome scribe post! I liked how you added pictures to go with your explanations. But for #10, I don't get why you did 1.5m x 6m= 12m2. When your answer is 12m2, how do you know the height is 6m. What I did was, I already knew that how base is 1.5m and we knew that the area of the strip is 9m, but we don't know the height. So, 9m divided by 1.5m= 6m2! But your answer was still correct! Great work! And here's a link on finding the area of a parallelogram.

Hi Sompong! Your scribe is awesome! I liked how you took the picture from the textbook and added to your scribe post. But for question #10 I don't get how you got. 1.5m x 6m = 12m2. Because 1.5m x 6m = 9cm2. But your answer was correct, the answer is 6cm. To make your scribe post even better I think you should make the font a little bigger and here is a link I think you should add.

And here is a video that I think you should add to your scribe post.

heey amy (: greatjob on your scribe-post I really liked how you explained the parts and what was the answer. && yes the twins are right, I didnt really get why you did 1.5m x 6m= 12m2. When the answer is 12m2, and how do you know the height is 6cm2. but its okay. at least you did it and goodjob again (:
- abbyramos ; great job amy :)

Hey Amy! Your scribe is great but you forgot to put a video. Here is a video you could put next time.

Also nice pictures, they are just like what is in the text book.

Hi Sompong. Nice scribe-post. On question 10 the answer should equal to 9m2, so the height is 7.5 because 7.5+1.5=9. I liked how you put the pictures from the textbook beside the questions. I suggest you change the color of the font.
