Math: Exam Review

A spread sheet organizes date in columns and rows.

Know the ratio of circumference to diameter of any circle is always the same.

Circumference divided by diameter is pi, 3.14

~**~**~**~ Next Slide~

Circle Formulas

c = π d
c = 2 π r
d = 2r
A = π r²

Are is the measure of space, a two dimensional shape covers

~**~**~**~ Next Slide~

Sectors of circle graphs are made from central angles.

If the sector covers 25% of the graph the central angle is 25% of 360° which is 90° (0.25 x 360)

~**~**~**~ Next Slide~

Integers
negative numbers represent values below zero and positive numbers represent values above zero.

eg. above and below ground or sea level

1+ (-2) = (-1) is an addition statement

3 - (-1) = 4 is an subtraction statement

~**~**~**~ Next Slide~

Opposite integers have the same numeral but a different sign e.g 3 and (-3)

Know what a
(+) + (+) =
(-) + (-) =
(+) + (-) =
(-) + (+) =
(+) - (+) =
(-) - (-) =
(+) - (-) =
(-) - (+) =

Practice with different numerals in each situation

Math Practice Questions

2) Matt is a quarter of his dad's age, his dad's age is 48.
3) The dog is three times older then Annie, her age is 15.
4) Jane's height is three times less than her brother's height, his height is 6.
5) The phone calls from yesterday was 9 times more today and the calls were 108.

Solve the following algebric equations:

1) 5n = 200
2) n + 26 = 40
3) 2n - 27 = 11
4) n + 5 = 18
5) 2n + 18 = 26

Hope these questions will help you!

Measures of Central Tendency

Measures of Central Tendency
-A value that represents the center of a data set
-Can be the mean,median, or mode

Data Set- is a number that you must arrange in order from least to greatest

Median- the middle number in a set of data after the data have been arranged in ordereg.
median of 2,5,6,8,9 is 6

Mode- the frequently occurring number in a set of data
mode and most have 4 numbers
-mode of 3,5,7,7,9 is 7
-mode of, 2, 4, 6, 6, 8, 11 is 2 and 6
-mode of 1, 2, 3, 5 is no mode
-mode of 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3 is no mode
-mode of 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 4 is 1, 2 and 3

Mean- a measure of a central tendency, the sum of the set of value divided by the number of values in the set
mean of 6,4,8 is 6
4,6,8
4+6+8=18

Range-The positive between the largest and smallest values in a data set
Range of 4,5,5,6,9,1,3,5,8,6
1,3,4,5,5,6,6,8,8,9

Outlier-a value that is much larger or smaller then the other data value

the middle number in a set of data that have been ordered.

Philip's question: 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 10
Answer

Mode- the most frequently occurring number is a set of data (number that shown up the most)
mode and most both have four letters

Mean- a measure of central tendency
the sum of a set of values divided to the number in the values of set

add up all the numbers. divide that by how many numbers there are.

Range- the positive difference between the largest and smallest values in a data set.

Math Notes For June 2nd

Show Every Step And Check

A +4=10
first you use reverse operation and eliminate the +4 with a negative 4

when you eliminate the +4 all you have left is a

A=6

Check
Sub. 6 for all the a's you see

A+4=10
6+4=10
10=10

here are the other few we did

B-2=5
use reverse operation to eliminate the -2
B-2+2=5+2
what you are left with is
B=7
Check
Sub. 7 for any b's you see
7-2=5

3c=21

3c/3=c
21/3=7
c=7

3(7)=21
3x7=21
21=21
Check
w/3=6
3x w/3=6x3

w=18

Check
18/3=6

for these ones you have to eliminate the addition and subtraction before the multiplication and division.

2j+1=9
2j+1-1=9-1
2j=8
2j/2=j
8/2=4
j=4

Check
2(4)+1=9
2x4=8
8+1=9
9=9

f/3-2=1
f/3-2+2=1+2
f/3=3
3x f/3 =3x3
f=9

Check
9/3-2=1

Patterns And Expressions

Patterns- Are arrangements of shapes, colours, letters, numbers, etc. For which you can predict what comes next

Constant- A number that does not change. Increases or decreases the value of the expression no matter what the value of the variable
Example: 2x+4, 4 is the constant

Variable- A letter that represents an unknown number
Example: 2x+4, x is the variable

Numerical Coefficient- A number that multiplies the variable
Example: 2x+4, 2 is the numerical coefficient

Example: 2y-7, 11x, and 14 are expressions

Equation- Mathematical statement with two expressions that have the same value
Example: x+2=3, y-7=(-4)

Value- A known or calculated amount

Linear Relation- A pattern made by two sets of numbers that results in points along a straight line on a coordinate grid

Graph- A visual way to show how two sets of numbers relate to each other

Relationship- A pattern formed by two sets of numbers
